What this tech does remains a mystery that you’ll have to figure out next year. ![]() So you won’t just be uncovering the mysteries of the Guardians with your buddies, exploring the detritus of a forgotten civilisation, you’ll be able to unlock a personal narrative while you’re on these adventures, discovering weird tech. That means exploring ancient alien ruins, working your way through new narrative threads and embarking on new personal adventures as well. And if you've become invested in the narrative, good news: the story of the Guardians will carry on. You’ll be able to get new ships, like The Chieftain and The Krait, which you might recognise if you played the original Elite. Expect more consequences for being a naughty criminal, too. Over the year, you’ll see improvements to crafting, trading, co-op - including the addition of guild-like Squadrons and massive, dockable fleet carriers - and planet creation. Frontier announced a roadmap at Frontier Expo, and it looks like they’re going to be cramming a lot into these free updates, including new ships, tools and large group content ![]() But if humanity can survive the Thargoids, there’s a whole lot more coming in 2018 with a new season called Elite Dangerous: Beyond. They’re also recruiting staff for the project, and an application form can be found on the website.Things have been hotting up in Elite Dangerous’ facsimile of our massive galaxy, what with that whole alien invasion problem. The team is yet to announce a release date, but updates will be posted to its social media. Also, as Vault-Tec is an American company, the UK will have a different equivalent. This means no Super Mutants, Centaurs or Deathclaws. As the FEV virus was created in the US, the modders are running on the assumption that it would not have reached the UK, especially so early on in the series. The Fallout London website does give us an idea of what not to expect, however. While Fallout London is set in a completely different country, that at least gives you a feel for what sort of world we could explore. Indeed, every town was very insular, with no overarching government body attempting to bring the Wasteland together. The first Fallout depicted a very different kind of society than what we saw later on, in which communication between settlements was incredibly limited. Set in 2237, this puts it in between the first two Fallouts on the timeline - so well before the events of Fallout 3 and beyond. Other factions include militia group, The Tommies populist anti-establishment movement, 5th Column and criminal organization, the Isle of Dogs Syndicate. The trailer alludes to some of the London-inspired factions we’ll encounter - one of which, The Gentry, appears to be tied to the royal family, that are somehow still knocking about. ![]() It doesn’t get much more British than this.
